i just turn my screen off at the power button.

with the rpi5 you want to let the cpu idle or it'll just stay around 50' & the fan will stay on.

i run my fan always on anyway, but i don't want to keep the cpu busy when i'm not using it.

i have a friend who loops a family video with cvlc for his screen saver.
