It doesn't need to be rude or offensive to cause complaint from people. Getting people's hopes up and dashing them deliberately isn't particularly funny, can even be considered cruel. It is opportunistically using April Fools Day to mislead people in ways we wouldn't normally do, wouldn't consider acceptable. This is the fake link I posted. Anything rude, offending?
As a moderator elsewhere, I'm one of those who has to take the flack from people who have had their time wasted and don't think allowing links which waste their time should be allowed. If something is annoying users one has to decide should it stay or should it go.
I'm not a kill-joy, can enjoy being pranked and fooled like anyone else, but wasting my time with no inner-laugh at the end I just find tedious and pointless. I haven't seen a good April Fool in years; most is no better than click-bait.
