I went and opened a new thread in the display section of the forum. It looks like my main problem is just getting the display to work... once I resolve this I can move on to getting PADD to run on boot. viewtopic.php?p=2364660#p2364660
I've since rebuilt the raspberry pi based on Trixie lite (no GUI, headless) so I no longer get the image when I boot, it just goes to a black screen after being white for a few seconds.
