Ancient post more like. Despite getting the same router, and installing the same software, I can't reproduce a problem. You can't fix a problem you can't reproduce.
My suspicion is the problem exists in the default Debian configuration across all architectures and has for a long time. The reason nobody reports it is because almost no servers are connected through WiFi and most Internet-of-things devices constantly call home.

If one is using a WiFi-connected a laptop or desktop, then the initiation of traffic goes the other way and all is well. On the other hand, some WiFi-connected Raspberry Pi computers are used only as remote servers and do not initiate traffic on their own.

I saw the problem with a Linksys WRT54G router running the default firmware.
