(Have reuploaded here because I'm not sure if this is a better spot for this topic than in the projects folder.)

Hi all, I'm quite fresh with raspberry pie and I am looking to undertake a project for my year 12 stem. my goal is to create a DIY setup to:

1. Record a panoramic video surrounding my car whilst parked when motion is detected.
2. Show a birds eye view live video stream on a tablet or screen of some sort when reversing, (sort of like how Teslas and many other new cars do)
3. Loop record as much as possible as a dash cam.

I'm hoping to find some suitable USB cameras that can be mounted discretely all around the vehicle. I'm thinking of connecting them to a USB hub hat for sufficient bandwidth although I'm still looking for suggestions and I have no idea if the hat and pie could handle say 5 6 or 7 cameras.

My question is how many cameras can I expect a raspberry pie 5 to handle, the more the better. I don't need great resolution for the birds eye view so long as it is sufficient to position a large 4wd in a tight spot, or even use it for spotting on a 4wd track. I don't really care how the dashcam footage is recorded so long as number plates are legible and most directions are visible.

I'm open to all suggestions regarding hardware and software as I have no set in stone plans for this project currently. I have nothing purchased so I would love to get started ordering things to get the project moving.

Regards Nathan.
