Raspberry pi foundation have nothing to do with it.Thanks for reminding me that the desktop is not actually part of Linux. This is hard for noobies (and OLD UN*X admins) to remember !Linux, and in this case, the desktop software, which is not actually part of Linux, do fall short in the documentation area.
Sigh ! Still the Raspberry Pi Foundation CHOSE what to include in this distribution !
Raspberry Pi ltd do the HW and SW.
We did choose the desktop which is a modified LXDe iirc.
