I'd start with a new SDcard. That at least gets you a rescue system that will prove that your hardware is working. It also gives you a Linux system to help you examine the /root partition of your non-working SDcard. You may even be able to copy the configuration rather than having to start again.

Even if you think the partitions are clean it's worth checking them again (using a Linux system, windows can check the /boot first partition but doesn't recognise ext4 without extra tools installed). Assuming your SDCard is at /dev/sda then sudo fsck -f -y /dev/sda1;sudo fsck -f -y /dev/sda2 will perform a filesystems check.
