Thank you. So I discovered you have to drag over the .uf2 code after each compilation. Therefore it must not be possible to run the code from within the Visual Code environment?
Anyhow I finally got pico to blink!
Now on to Hello World, with predictably no success.
I am finding the Visual Studio very complicated with it's myriad of options and steps required to do anything.
In the upper right, there is an option to debug or run C++, but this only seems to result in errors. Does this function not useable for pico development? I am still confused about the steps required.

Select program from pico-examples (in this case Hello World)
Click CMake button
In Project Outline select USB
Select Hello.usb
Click on icon to right
Click on icon to right of CMakeLists.txt
Click on icon to right of Hello_usb.c
Drag .uf2 code to pico card.

Nothing happens, no output, no problems listed
