Something similar happened to me. I have an RPi 4B. Installed Trixie in a new SD card.
Two main issues:
1) Screen resolution
The default is 1920 x 1080 (1.77 ratio). The ratio is fine, but everything is too small for me.
Tried the resolution that worked for me before, which is 1280 x 720 (ratio 1.77). Now this is too big.
All the other options do not have a 1.77 ratio, and look distorted on my screen.
2) Menu bar > add / remove plugins
a) I cannot move the icon for File Manager to be second from left, next to the Raspberry Pi icon
b) I cannot add icons for two of my frequently used apps, Thonny and PDF Viewer
So, I am not staying with Trixie for now. Maybe later.
