C/C++ • Re: Trying to get /dev/ttyS0 running on a pi4 under Bookworm

Greetings, I need hardware serial on rpiZero2W (ttyS0) to work. I'm fairly experienced with serial interfacing but have never internalized all the termios settings so to get re-started in pi-os and Linux C I got quick n' dirty boilerplate code from Google search (probably Gemini generated). I've been chasing my tail for a while on bookworm with what seemed like very odd results when I found this thread. I've also found a distro open item thread that leads me to believe there may be a problem with changes from bullseye to bookworm specifically about how symlinks are generated for the serial ports as related to bluetooth enable/disable. The note in earlier post about POSIX and O_NDELAY appears to make a difference but did not solve my problem.

today I started over with another search for minimalistic serial code for rpi, got some, compiled and ran
results:
(on bullseye) runs fine
(on bookworm) tango uniform ( no workie )

This post is just to revive this thread. If anyone is really interested in serial working on piZero responds, please ask me anything you want me to test toward helping this thread having a clear solved conclusion.

regards
