A couple of things that strike me, which might help others to pin this down for you:
When you say: "Just a black screen on the correct channel of my TV," I presume you mean the correct input has been selected on the TV, as if you were tuning to an RF channel you would have needed a modulator.
I assume there are no other inputs plugged in to the TV.
It could be handy to know what exact OS and kernel you are running:
maybe:
cat /etc/os-release
and:
uname -a
