Troubleshooting • Re: Pi 4 SSD Boot Fails on USB 3 Port, Works on USB 2 port

I created a EEPROM updater card with imager and successfully updated. That stopped the pi4 from even attempting to boot from the SSD when the hub is plugged into the USB 3 ports. Now the SSD just flashes it's access light a bit at power on and then it stops and the pi just hangs there unable to boot as there is no other bootable media available. Same with the other unbranded hub. I think it's must just be the hubs are unable to provide enough power or something. Anyway, my Pi 5 arrived today so I'm giving up on the Pi 4 for now, might try it with a new hub sometime in the future.

I bought the RPi 45W power supply for the Pi 5 and it boots perfectly from the SSD plugged into a USB 3 port with no hub. I'll try the 45W PS on the Pi 4 with the SSD directly connected at some point too.
