Compute Module • Re: CM5 based laptop from Argon40 in the works

The current variant is designed to operate entirely in a fanless configuration under normal usage conditions. The inclusion of an active cooling solution was primarily to accommodate enthusiasts who prioritize thermal performance or may wish to explore overclocking the CM5. Based on my regular usage of the laptop, the fan does not really turn on.
There are 2 MCU deployed for the latest engineering sample, one for the keyboard and one we are considering for power cut off and screen brightness control. We are seriously considering replacing the last mcu with RP2350, it is overkill for the solution but we think we might find other needs for it. If you guys have some suggestion that won't significantly increase our engineering work, we will take it. In the future version fo this laptop, we will consider using the RP2350 for the keyboard similar to what Pi 500 did, but for now we will just take off the shelf solution and focus our engineering team on things that actually matter.

We do plan to opensource this project, so we will share the schematic at some point.
Hi. For the future version please consider a fanless variant. I'm sure many would love to get their hands on it. Thank you in advance.
Thank you very much for the reassurance.
It would be great if some more cooling capacity allowance is given in anticipation of a higher power requirement of the upcoming Pi6, since this project would be completed (perhaps) much closer to the launch date of the Pi6 than the Pi5.
