I just checked it and I happen to have mixed it up, my bad. I'm using an unstable 1.19.1 version which does have wifi support. I'm guessing that is the pre-release of 1.20, and it is 3 years old, not 5. I guess I had remembered the 19 and that had stuck in my memory as if it was released in 2019. Apologies for giving misleading information. I'm stuck with using that because there are several hundreds of devices already in use in many different locations and will be quite a hurdle to update the firmware of as the hardware does not allow for that to happen over the air.
My situation is quite specific, unfortunately I have to use a certain version of uPython that's about 5 years old
My understanding of the MicroPython Release Notes is that the 'rp2' port did not get integration of the CYW43xx WiFi driver which is used in the Pico W board until v1.20 in April 2023, less than 2 years ago? (There may of course have been some preview builds prior to that.) https://github.com/micropython/micropyt ... ag/v1.20.0
The Raspberry Pi Pico W was announced less than 3 years ago in June 2022. https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/raspbe ... -platform/
What is the specific version of MicroPython you are 'pinned' to?
