It's not possible to buy the PMIC, the SOC or the RP1 I/O controller used in the Pi separately. Is there any repair option for a failed Raspberry Pi other than a complete replacement?
As an anecdotal bit of evidence I've been using an unbranded Pentium J5040-based soft router for two months. The unit is fanless with a heatsink case and four 2.5 GB Ethernet ports. So far it's been cool and reliable. Note I installed a branded SSD and RAM myself.
Although neither a desktop daily driver nor Pi, my experience does confirm that some stuff available on AliExpress appears to work. Fido keeps having nightmares about hardware supply-chain hacking, but a Pi with three USB Ethernet dongles did not seem like a good alternative.
