The best WiFi, etc setup I used on a Pi was when using the old Google VoiceHAT.
(maybe not industrial but great for users).
The OS was all setup and just waited for initial setup.
Everything was then done from the phone,
I assume it used BT to connect, so had a program waiting for the app to connect.
It then let you setup WiFi etc, and then you could reboot with it all working. It could also give you the IP address. Which you can then browse/ssh too.
Now you could probably do what Smart Plugs/Devices (and my DIY IoT devices). Create an AP at the first boot, or after sometime of no connect, or a 'reset' button press, so you can establish a connection from phone/laptop and set it up on site with all the details.
That's if you don't want to create new one in Pi Imager each time.
